Riwal launches augmented reality feature in My Riwal app
Riwal has upgraded the My Riwal app to include an innovative augmented reality feature that integrates images of an aerial platform with a real-life site.
By using the camera on their phones, customers can now view a 3D model of an aerial platform they are interested in renting, projected onto the real environment detected by the camera.
The new My Riwal app feature allows customers to see if a specific aerial work platform fits through the entrance to a work site, and if the working height is sufficient for a particular task.
Riwal Chief Financial Officer René Timmers, who is responsible for digital and IT developments, says: “At Riwal, we continue striving towards delivering the best customer experience.
“We are confident that implementing this augmented reality (AR) feature will help our customers to make better decisions when it comes to choosing the right aerial work platform for their needs.”
The AR feature will first be launched on the iOS version of the My Riwal Rental app, followed soon afterwards by the Android version.
The My Riwal app uses BIM files that have been converted to AR files, which ensures that the machines have the correct dimensions when projected into a real environment.
Three-dimensional images of the machines can be moved vertically and horizontally. Screenshots of the image can be shared with remote decision-makers and amongst groups.
At the moment, the AR feature can be used for Riwal’s top 50 most-rented machines. Riwal is working towards making all machines AR-compatible within My Riwal in the near future.
