Important changes to the use of rebated fuels

Important changes to the use of rebated fuels
Due to the change in the law which dictates that the construction industry can no longer use rebated ‘red’ fuels from the 1st of April, Riwal UK will only be supplying equipment filled with white diesel from the 21st of March 2022.

Riwal UK will also supply white HVO if this is preferred or specifically required by the site you will be working on.

The fuel and energy market has been highly volatile in recent months and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has made the already rising price of fuel unstable and unpredictable. Because of this, we cannot currently fix our fuel rate.

If you wish to know what you will be charged for fuel, we can inform you of this at the point of hire.

The Red Diesel change is a positive move to increase sustainability awareness and improvement of carbon reduction for large sectors within the UK.

The change will require the UK to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050, compared with the previous target of at least an 80% reduction from 1990 levels. In 2019, the government also launched an ambitious new strategy to clean up the air and save lives, given air pollution is one of the biggest continuing threats to public health in the UK.

As sustainability is a core value at Riwal UK, we are embracing this change with the plans to focus on being full HVO in the near future. However, we are aware that we need to be pragmatic in how we transition, as there will be 'mixed fuels' for a number of months.

Official information on this change can be found on the GOV website.
