Star performers recognised with employee awards

Riwal - Star performers recognised with employee awards

Riwal UK’s star performers have been recognised at an awards ceremony. They were nominated for the awards by their colleagues, who praised them for their commitment to excellent customer service and the Riwal Way, a process of continuous improvement.

Team members at Riwal UK and sister company ALS Safety strive to deliver the best possible powered access equipment hire and safety training experience to everyone who uses their services.

Employees of the Year announced

The two Employees of the Year are Stuart Bevan, Foreman at the Wellingborough Depot, and Steve Hide, Senior Training Instructor with ALS Safety

As a demonstration of the depth of talent to be found at Riwal UK, Credit Control Specialist Colin Drudge, Hire Controller Abbi Ryan, and ALS Safety Administrator Jean Hall were also nominated for the award which was decided by a company-wide vote.

Both Steve and Stuart said they were shocked at being named Employees of the Year, but comments from their colleagues suggest it should have come as no surprise.

Stuart was praised for the positive impact he had on the Wellingborough Depot, achieving great results after taking over as foreman.

Part of his nomination read: "Stuart strives for the highest standards and is always on hand to help other depots and departments, even when he is up against it."

Riwal’s busy training division, ALS Safety, provides training seven days a week, and often in the evenings to accommodate shift workers. As well as providing training, Steve is currently mentoring new instructors to help them become full IPAF trainers.

A colleague commented: "No matter what time or day of the week, Steve is there to support us and the operation.”

Stuart said, “We work together as a team, and without the team behind me we’re nothing.”

Steve said, “It was a privilege to receive the award – all the trainers deserve it.”

Riwal UK Country Manager Mick Ledden said: “Steve and Stuart are very hard workers, with great attention to detail and fantastic commitment to making things happen for our customers. I’m delighted that their achievements have been recognised.“

Riwal UK Ambassadors

Technical Administrative Support Specialist Marie Jary, ALS Safety Administrator Jean Hall, Hire Controller Abbi Ryan and Accounts Specialist Hayley Staniscia were nominated for Riwal UK Ambassador Awards.

Human Resources Manager Claire Waples said, “It takes a special person to be a Riwal Ambassador and the overall winner this year was Hayley Staniscia."

Mick Ledden said: “The Riwal Ambassador is simply the person who embodies our values - Safety, Responsibility, Integrity, Engagement, Teamwork.”

2018 Rising Star Award

There were also four nominees for the Rising Star Award

ALS Instructor Neil Wilkins, SHEQ Coordinator Calum Patterson, Sales Manager Tony Lindsey, and Apprentice Engineer Paul Talent were all nominated as Rising Stars, with Tony receiving the Rising Star Award.

Mick Ledden said: “The Rising Star Award is awarded to the employee who demonstrates great promise and has a bright future in Riwal, is also loyal, hardworking, and a fantastic team player!”
