How much does it cost to rent a machine?
The rental costs vary according to machine type and duration of the rental period. Feel free to give us a call and get a quote from our rental desk.
I need a lift for next week, when should I order it?
It is best to order the machine as soon as you know when you need it. In general, we recommend ordering machines at least 48 hours in advanced. It is still possible to order machines with less advanced notice, but we then have to check if we have the machine you want in stock and make sure it is possible to arrange transportation.
I have rented a machine, but I need to cancel it, what do I do?
You can always cancel or order a machine via our customer portal, My Riwal. Log in via our website or via the My Riwal Rental app. You can also contact our rental desk and have the machine cancelled. If you choose to call our rental desk, remember we are only reachable within our opening hours.
Can I get a machine delivered today?
Yes, if transportation is possible. Call our rental desk right away to find out if it is possible for you to get a machine today!
Can I rent a machine on a long-term basis?
Yes, you can rent a machine on a long-term basis. If the rental period is longer than one month, we consider this a long-term rental and offer slightly lowered prices. Call our rental desk and find out more about pricing.
Should I rent or buy an aerial work platform?
This is very dependent on your company and your needs for an aerial work platform. Renting an aerial work platform is definitely desireable, if you only have a couple of jobs where an aerial work platform is needed. However, renting an aerial work platform can also be disireable, if you often need an aerial work platform but simply do not have the resources to maintain and store it. Therefore it is very important that you do a thorough investigation of your company, your needs and your opportunities before deciding on renting or buying an aerial work platform. If needed, we will gladly discuss your situation with you and assist you in making the right decision.
My rental period includes a weekend, do I also pay rental during this?
Unless your are using your rented machine in the weekend, you only have to pay insurance.
Can I rent a machine as an individual, or do you only rent out to companies?
You cannot rent a Riwal machine as an individual. We only rent out machines to companies, so you would have to be an employee at a company.
I noticed that you have a service fee. What does this include?
At Riwal safety is our top priority. Therefore we perform a service check on each machine after each rental period, and only if the machine has no defaults do we mark it as ready for the next rental period. This is to make sure all machines are safe to use, when they are rented out.
If I rent a machine but then cannot use it for unforeseen reasons, do I still have to pay rental for it?
Yes, even though you are not using the machine, you will still have to pay the rental price for the machine.
I don't know what type of machine is the best fit for my project. Can Riwal help me figure this out?
Yes of course! If you do not feel our website or our app provide you with enough information, Riwal has Account Managers that personally can assist you in choosing the right machine for your project. If needed they will also happily pay you a visit and discuss your options with you in person.
Do I need a certificate or license to operate my machine?
This depends on what type of machine, you are operating, and in which country, you are operating in. Contact your local technical desk to find out more.
I need my machine delivered in an enclosed space that requires the use of a crane. Can you arrange for the machine to be delivered by crane?
Riwal does not do crane tasks, but we can assist you in finding a qualified collaborator that can deliver the machine by crane.
Is fuel included in the rental price of the machine?
No, fuel is not included in the rental price of the machine. Fuel is being billed separately
Can I use my aerial work platform for hoisting tasks?
No, an aerial work platform must not be used for hoisting tasks of any kind.
What are Riwal's opening hours?

If I rent a machine, does Riwal then provide me with an operator for the machine?
No, Riwal does not provide operators for your rented machines, but we do carry out trainings and education in working at height. If you do not have any personnel authorised to operate a Riwal machine, have them sign up for training right now!
Can I drive the machines on public roads?
Unless the machine is a truck mounted lift or a telehandler, it is not allowed to drive a Riwal machine on a public road.
My work requires tools and materials at height, can I bring these with me in the basket?
Yes, you can bring tools as well as materials with you in the basket. Just remember to make sure the weight of you and the materials do not exceed the maximum workload of the basket.
Who can provide me with training in working at height?
Training in working at height must be provided by an authorised person with the required skillset for working at height. Riwal offers training and education in working at height and you can easily sign up for training right here!
How much are the transportation costs?
Transportation costs depend on machine type and distance. If you know what type of machine you need and where, contact our rental desk and get a quote on the transportation costs.
I am at the work site and my machine has been delivered, but I cannot see it. What should I do?
Log in to My Riwal on the computer or on your smartphone via the My Riwal Rental app. In My Riwal you can see all of the machines, you are currently renting, and with the GPS feature you are also able to see their exact location. If you do not have a My Riwal account, you can contact our rental desk.
To what extent of wheather can I use my aerial work platform
Usually, an aerial work platform can be used in all kinds of wheather as along as the windforce does not surpass wind force 6 (13 m/s). However, this may differ for some machines. Therefore Riwal advises you to always check the operating manual before starting your work. In case of a thunderstorm all work at height must stop immediately.
Do I need to wear a harness, when I operate my machine?
This depends on what machine type, you are operating. The necessity of wearing a harness on your machine is specified in the operating instructions of the machine. If you are still in doubt about whether or not you should wear a harness after reading the instructions, contact your local technical help desk.
What kind of safety harness do I need to wear, when I am operating my machine?
The varies according to which type of machine, you are operating. Riwal's advice is: Always wear a short, adjustable safety harness when operating a telescopic boom lift. When operating a scissor lift you are not obligated to wear a safety harness. However, this may differ according to the type of work, you are doing, the customer's own regulations and the regulations of the location. Therefore always make sure to check with your surroundings and find out if you should wear a harness or not.
Do I have to do a machine check-up on my machine before I use it?
Yes, always. Before starting any kind of work, you should always do an inspection of you rmachine to make sure it has no defects. If you detect any damage or technical malfunctions on your machine, contact your local technical help desk right away.
Can I operate my machine by myself?
Yes, you can operate a Riwal machine by yourself, but you should always have assistance from the ground especially if you are operating an aerial work platform. In case of an emergency it is crucial to have a person on the ground, who can lower the machine from the ground.
Do I need to inspect the work area I am going to be operating in, before I start my work at height?
Yes, you should always inspect your work area and its surroundings before you start operating your machine. And when you do so, always remember to pay attention to substrate, obstacles, bystanders and high-voltage cables.
