How to Choose the Best Machine? Augmented Reality is the Solution of the Future
Do you find selecting the right machine for the job to be a challenging process? Have you ever rented the wrong machine, or realized there was a better one for the job?
Selecting the best aerial work platform or telehandler for your job to be done at height is not a snap decision, and thus requires time and thoughtfulness. The size of the working space, the minimum necessary working height, and measurements of the entrances to the site must be accounted for.
Riwal’s newest innovation expedites this process, making it possible for you to select a machine with confidence, and get it right the first time. We have added an augmented reality feature in the My Riwal Rental app, making it possible for you to select a machine and then see it in your work space with the tap of a finger.
How it Works
Using the camera, the augmented reality feature projects an image of a specific machine into the environment that the camera detects. You simply open the app, select your machine of choice, and click ‘view in augmented reality’. The camera will open, and an icon will instruct you to move the camera around, pointed towards the floor for a matter of seconds. Then, you can tap the screen and the machine will be displayed in augmented reality on your camera, to scale in your working environment.
It is then possible to move the machine vertically and horizontally within a working space to determine if the working height is sufficient for the job to be done. Additionally, this feature makes it possible to see if a specific aerial work platform fits through the entrance to a work site. Since selecting the best machine for the job is crucial, this feature supports you in getting it right the first time. Of course, the Riwal support team is always available to give advice via phone or email if you are still uncertain about a machine choice.
Our new augmented reality feature has been launched on both the iOS and Android version of the My Riwal Rental app. Our technology uses BIM (Business Information Modelling) files that have been converted to augmented reality files, which ensures that the machines have the correct dimensions when projected in augmented reality.
Our first launch includes our top 50 most rented machine models with available BIM files. Eventually, The My Riwal Rental app will make every machine with a BIM file available in the augmented reality feature.
