Riwal provides solutions for working safely and efficiently at height. Prater is a large user of powered access in the UK. After discovering Prater required GPS units fitted to their machines on a major project in Central London, Riwal contacted them. They were already using a couple of other access hire companies who provided a GPS system, but they were not happy with how it functioned. Riwal presented Track Unit and now they are able to proceed with the job whilst accurately tracking their machines.
Prater is specialising in total building envelope solutions and is part of the German Lindner Group. They are using powered access to install interior and exterior facades on the London Bridge Underground Station. Prater were using various types of AWP’s ranging from small electric scissor lifts, Bi-Energy Booms and diesel cherry pickers. Because the site was a large construction site with many AWP’s throughout the site, it was difficult to locate a specific machine and also other contractors were prone to using machines from other companies without permission.
Initially an engineer was involved for an on site meeting with Prater, then the Riwal UK Director got involved to kick things off who also included the hire desk to make them aware of the situation and understand the gravity of this opportunity. After discussing Prater’s needs and requirements the solution offered by Riwal included the Smart ID functionality to ensure that only authorized personnel in possession of a pin code were able to use the machines. In addition Riwal provided an online web service, which enables Prater to view their machines locations.
Benefits for the customer
The Track Unit solution enabled Prater to easily track the exact location of their machines. In addition it led to less disputes, less down time and third party contractors not able to make unauthorized use of the machines.
